Celebration of International Women’s Day 2024

The Ambassador of Ghana to Angola, H.E. Mavis Esi Kusorgbor, participated in Radio Discussions held at Platina FM in Luanda on Thursday, 28th March, 2024 to round-off the month-long activities in commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day in Angola. Other panelists on the radio programme were the Ambassador of Egypt, Her Excellency Neveen Elhusseiny; Ambassador of France, Her Excellency Sophie Aubert and Miss Angola International, Teresa Sara. This years’ International Women’s Day, was marked under the theme:  “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” on 8th March 2024.

The radio discussions which focused on “Gender Equality and the Role of Women in Society,” thoroughly examined challenges being faced by women in Africa, and all over the world.  Discussions also highlighted various initiatives adopted by all countries, based on their commitments to international legal instruments and national policies, to improve the status and well-being of women.

In her submissions, Ambassador Mavis Kusorgbor, shed light on strides being made by the Government of Ghana in the protection of the rights of women and the improvement of their socio-economic well-being. Stemming from Government’s firm commitment to gender equality and advancement, she outlined the substantial investments made over the years towards the development and implementation of programmes, projects and policies, at the national level, aimed at building the capacities of women and creating unique opportunities to facilitate their inclusion and active participation in various sectors of the economy, as well as their involvement in decision-making processes at all levels of government.
